About the Baptist Faith

Southern Baptists are not a creedal people. We hold certain beliefs, but Baptists believe that God speaks directly to individuals and that each person can read the Bible and interpret it themselves. The Bible is God's word and is without error in the original manuscripts.

Southern Baptists believe in only one God who reveals himself as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, and that He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe …
  • in the indwelling Holy Spirit;
  • the holy universal Church, members coming into the church personally, individually, and freely;
  • the communion of saints,
  • the forgiveness of sins only by God's grace through faith in Christ,
  • the resurrection of the body,
  • and the life everlasting.
